Design hotels usually choose a side. The precise one or the warm one. The architectural one or the lived-in one. ZEST is built on the opposite idea.
The form holds. The feeling arrives. Our architecture is drawn in shadow and in light, in stone and in linen, in the geometry of the building and the movement of the island through it. One is built to be seen. One is built to be felt.
Five acres on the hill at Cap Negret, facing west over the sea. Built from the stone, timber, and clay of the island. 206 rooms and suites, seven villas, five restaurants. No two spaces hold the light the same way.
Every room, suite, and villa at ZEST has outdoor space of its own. The brief was never "a design hotel in Ibiza to photograph" but "a design hotel in Ibiza to live in". Considered
form and daily use, in every detail.
The Guardian stands six metres high at the entrance, looking up over the resort. Forever on Vacation hangs at Bacuda. Created in collaboration with BOEM Art, they are placed for this building rather than bought to fill it. Around them, natural materials, sculpted light, local ceramics, and five acres of garden planted with native species.
At seven the light comes in low across the stone and the terraces are still cool. By noon the shadows drop straight down and the walls take the glare. Late in the afternoon the clay turns warm and the pool edge disappears into the sea. At night the lamps come on and the building turns inward. Stay a week and you will not see the same room twice. A design hotel in Ibiza, made to be lived in at every hour.
